Electric Discharge Module
Description
The Electric Discharge Module, an add-on to the COMSOL Multiphysics® simulation software, enables the understanding, analysis, and prediction of electric discharge behavior in gases, liquids, and solid dielectrics. This includes the study of streamers, corona, dielectric barrier, and arc discharges.
The applications of the Electric Discharge Module range from consumer electronics to high-voltage system components. With its capabilities to simulate lightning-induced electromagnetic pulses, electrostatic discharges, and related phenomena, the module is a vital tool for product development, helping to significantly reduce the costs associated with experimental testing and prototyping.
The module integrates seamlessly with other COMSOL products, including those for electromagnetics, structural mechanics, and fluid dynamics. This allows users to study the multiphysics effects often associated with electric discharges in a unified environment.
