Modular Commercial Amplifier
Description
CPI TMD have upgraded their Commercial Amplifiers to a modular design to improve manufacturability, maintainability, and reliability, increasing the interface options and offering rear input and output connections. The Modular Commercial Amplifier allows for the use of different manufacturers TWTs whilst benefiting from a commonality of parts for the power supply and electronic sub-assemblies.
The intelligence behind CPI EDB’s Modular Commercial Amplifer (MCA) range is provided by a state-of-the-art advanced “Systemon-Chip” (SOC) microcircuit, which not only controls and synchronizes all of the power conversion circuitry in real time, but also provides the intelligence for all of the monitoring, control, data-logging and user interface functionality.
The amplifier architecture is based on CPI EDB’s ultra-reliable military power supplies, which have been proven over years in the field. CPI EDB employs a state-of-the-art cooling system, incorporating heat pipe technology. This has the effect of spreading the heat dissipated by the TWT over a large area, reducing peak temperatures and significantly improving mean time between failures. Smart Fan speed control is provided to reduce ambient noise.
The main interface standard is Ethernet (although almost all interface standards are available), which enables the amplifier to be connected to a standard PC or laptop web browser, either point-to-point, on a LAN or from the other side of the world!
CPI TMD’s MCA is designed with ease of support by our customers. We have 4 plug n play boards that make up the HVPSU so that with the appropriate training from CPI TMD our customers can diagnose faults and swap boards without the amplifier being return to CPI TMD. These boards can be ordered separately and held by our customers to ensure the fastest possible Repair Turn Round Times (RTAT). In addition to this CPI TMD has the ability to and only with the customers authorisation, dial in to the amplifier via a LAN connection to help with fault diagnostics. This is optional should the customer require further support prior to shipping the unit back to CPI TMD for repair.
CPI TMD’s Modular Instrumentation amplifiers go through a rigorous quality procedure which involves an extensive temperature and vibration ESS test along with a 100 hour burn in period prior to shipment; this practice has significantly helped Increase reliability and hence lower our customers cost of ownership. The MCA is manufactured to ISO9001 build standard, CE marked and certified to comply with EN 61010-1:2010 and EN 61000 UL certification.
