In-situ EMC Measurement and Analysis of a Balcony Photovoltaic System with Microinverter

Balcony photovoltaic systems make an important contribution to decentralized energy generation. At the same time, reports from European market surveillance authorities and recent studies have raised questions regarding the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of microinverters. This white paper investigates the EMC characteristics of a balcony PV system under real operating conditions and analyzes interference sources, coupling paths, and potential measures for reducing emissions.

This paper provides an overview of how common-mode and differential-mode currents, magnetic field strengths, and cable routing influence the electromagnetic emissions of balcony photovoltaic systems. In addition, measurements and simulations demonstrate how interference coupling mechanisms can be analyzed and assessed.

Gain valuable insights into assessing EMC risks in photovoltaic systems and effective measures for reducing electromagnetic emissions already during the planning and installation phases.
